China to increase palm oil imports in 2024

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah concluded his visit to China, and China promised to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and palm oil. China will increase palm oil imports to 3.4 million tons next year. China has been Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years.

Fadillah said that the visit was a success and China responded positively to the cooperation. He also unveiled the Malaysian Palm Oil Research Institute and witnessed Hongda Oils and Fats (Dongguan) Co., Ltd. obtain Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certification, which is the first outside Malaysia. A refinery with MSPO certification.

The two governments will cooperate to resolve trade issues involving palm tocotrienols and encourage cooperation among scientific research institutions. The two sides also plan to sign a memorandum of understanding and establish bilateral mechanisms to promote the realization of sustainable development goals.
