INV has launched the RM3.2 billion Phase 1 lithium battery separator project in Penang

INV New Material Technology, a subsidiary of Xingyuan Technology Materials in Shenzhen, China, has opened its first factory in Penang Science Park, Malaysia, and is the first facility in Southeast Asia to produce lithium battery separators, with an annual production capacity of 1.3 billion square meters.

The plant will produce process separators and coated separators. The Penang Chief Minister said the collaboration between the government and the private sector was key to the success of the project, which is expected to create about 4,000 jobs.

This investment is considered an important milestone for Malaysia to become the largest lithium-ion battery separator production hub in Southeast Asia, injecting new vitality into the country’s manufacturing development and economy.
