Malaysia and Brazil strengthen cooperation on key global issues

Malaysia and Brazil are committed to strengthening coordination and cooperation in the fields of energy, environment, climate change, biodiversity, technological innovation and health. The foreign ministers of the two countries agreed to strengthen dialogue during COP28, considering that Malaysia will serve as the rotating chair of ASEAN in 2025 and Brazil will host the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention, further highlighting the importance of cooperation in the coming years.

The two countries support the Tropical Forest Dialogue, led by developing countries with tropical forests, and highlight international efforts to promote a just energy transition. The leaders also stressed the urgency of resolving the Palestinian issue, calling for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid, while stressing the importance of bilateral trade and investment flows. Both sides also welcomed exploring prospects for cooperation under the ASEAN-Brazil Sectoral Dialogue Partnership.
