Malaysia and UAE to complete bilateral trade talks in first quarter of 2024

The Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry stated that negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the United Arab Emirates are scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2024, and the agreement is expected to be signed in the first quarter of 2024.

Minister Zafrul also spoke about free trade agreement negotiations with the EU and will conduct a joint workshop. He emphasized that if the free trade agreement fails to benefit Malaysian companies and achieve positive economic effects, the agreement may not be reached.

In addition, Malaysia attracted RM225 billion in investment, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%, of which foreign direct investment accounted for 55.9% and domestic direct investment accounted for 44.1%. Zafrul said he would continue to improve Malaysia’s investment attractiveness and adapt to changes in the global investment landscape.
