The Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) has called on Malaysia to play a more active role in semiconductor chip exports in line with global trends and potential investment outflows from China. MIER recommended increasing production capacity to make Malaysia a chip production and export center.

MIER also noted that improving food supply chain networks is critical to reducing dependence on food imports. At the same time, it is necessary to support small and medium-sized enterprises to succeed in the digital field, establish comprehensive ecosystems and improve connectivity between countries.

In addition, MIER recommends that the government actively promote artificial intelligence and proposes the creation of an agile framework that goes beyond traditional policies. They also emphasized the introduction of a life cycle-based social security system to provide more comprehensive social security.
