Proton is currently exploring the development of hydrogen vehicles in Sarawak and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Roslan said the Sarawak government is optimising hydrogen production, taking into account technology, availability, investment and public acceptance in order to assess the extent of benefits.
He pointed out that the government plays a key role in sustainable fuel vehicle policies, with some developed country governments offering incentives such as free parking for electric vehicles, and the Malaysian government currently does not collect taxes from electric vehicle owners.
Proton plans to launch an electric vehicle in 2025.
