Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar said that the government agreed in principle to restart the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail plan and was resolving land issues and negotiating the high-speed rail line with Singapore.

He criticized the previous decision to cancel the plan and stressed that its continuation would reduce costs and attract private investment. Anwar also pointed out that Malaysia would have to pay a fine of RM320 million for failing to fulfill its agreement with Singapore.

In addition, he revealed that the second 5G network plan will be finalized in the first quarter of 2024. The government believes that this plan is needed for security reasons.
