Sarawak Governor Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state hit a record high this year with revenue of RM13.1 billion, exceeding the previous estimate of RM12.718 billion.

He stressed that the figure was revealed by the State Finance Secretary at a revenue meeting. Abang Johari thanked the people of the state and the cabinet for their support, noting that Sarawak’s revenue had doubled in the past six years. He said the record revenue would be used to improve infrastructure, including roads, electricity and water, and support school rehabilitation and new construction.

Abang Johari expected to continue to increase incomes in the future, stressing that this would boost economic development and allow leaders to focus on developing household incomes in both rural and urban areas.
