Government approves 22 biogas and biomass renewable energy projects

Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transformation and Public Utilities, through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority, has approved 22 biogas and biomass renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 36.534 MW.

The green power scheme will be supplied to Tenaga Nasional Bhd as early as 2027 to support the target of 70% renewable energy in electricity supply by 2050.

The government announced applications for feed-in tariff subsidies for renewable energy projects through electronic bidding. The 22 approved projects include 21 biogas green power generation projects and 1 biomass power generation project, which are expected to bring up to RM372 million in new investment in the renewable energy industry.
