Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry said it would revisit its target of building 10,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the country by 2025. Although nearly 1,500 charging stations are already in operation, there is still a gap between the targets of the low-carbon transport development plan.

The government maintains the target, but acknowledges that it is aggressive and needs to address issues such as the approval process. The process of setting up charging stations will be simplified to address the long approval time mentioned in the complaint. Minister Miti also revealed that there will be an increase in the allocation of the Electric Motorcycle Use Promotion Program.

CelcomDigi and Yinson GreenTech launch electric motorcycle ownership programs to drive EV adoption.
