Malaysia signs a data center development agreement with the UAE

Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (Miti) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAE Ministry of Investment to strengthen investment cooperation in the digital infrastructure sector, with a total potential project capacity expected to reach 500 MW.

The collaboration aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of digital infrastructure between Malaysia and the UAE, as well as to promote broader bilateral economic and investment relations. Malaysia has become a preferred destination for data centers in Southeast Asia, and the partnership will cement its position as a top destination for digital investment.

The MoU also demonstrates Malaysia’s commitment to advancing AI, in line with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030. This collaboration will help accelerate the thriving of the digital economy.
