Government allocates additional RM200 million to entrepreneurs in rural and suburban Sarawak

The federal government will allocate an additional RM200 million to support rural and suburban entrepreneurs in Sarawak through direct training and financial grants.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Zahid Hamidi announced the scheme, with funding to be channeled through agencies of the Federal Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, including Mara, Risda, the Community Development Agency and the Rural Entrepreneurs Department.

The grant will be used for training, upskilling, infrastructure and marketing. Ahmad said Sarawak entrepreneurs are attractive in the international market and the government aims to promote their development and provide more opportunities.

In addition, Risda plans to host entrepreneurship programs, Kemas will promote community development and skills programs in target areas, and Mara will conduct “Go Global” training programs.
