Communications Minister Fahmi Fazl said Telegram is willing to work with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to streamline the platform’s regulation, especially in combating scams and online gambling.
He revealed that Telegram founder Pavel Durov expressed this intention at a meeting on Saturday and expressed his willingness to explore more cooperation opportunities with the Malaysian government.
Fahmy invited Durov to visit Malaysia in person to discuss cooperation matters in depth. In addition, Durov also expressed his desire to expand business in Malaysia.
