Chinese tech giant GDS invests RM14 billion in Johor

Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi said Chinese information technology company GDS Holdings Bhd will expand its operations in Johor. GDS Holdings has invested RM14.33 billion in Johor to build data centers in two technology parks.

He believes Johor has the potential to become a competitive artificial intelligence (AI) center and will conduct a working visit to Shenzhen with GDS in 2024. He expressed appreciation for the company’s vision and business model in the data center sector, believing that Johor can become a region that attracts more investors, especially with the establishment of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
