According to reports, Malaysia has become an unexpected destination for the global semiconductor industry, replacing China, which has traditionally been favored. Dozens of companies have set up operations in Peninsular Malaysia in the past 18 months, including Micron, Intel and others. This trend is related to the technology war between China and the United States.

Malaysia is becoming an important link in the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain, attracting significant foreign direct investment. The Financial Times quoted Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as saying that developing Malaysia’s semiconductor industry is a key goal. The government is studying measures to maintain competitiveness, particularly an active neutrality policy between the United States and China.
