The Malaysian government has no plans to shut down any social media platforms, including TikTok.

Communications Minister Fahmy Fazl said the government would address potential risks on social media platforms by increasing security levels, while emphasizing a better combination of cooperation and the law.

He also pointed out that although other countries have taken measures to shut down TikTok, Malaysia currently has no such plan. At the same time, the government will take measures to deal with inappropriate content on social media, such as pornographic materials and illegal sales of products.

According to statistics from Statista, the number of TikTok users in Malaysia is expected to reach approximately 14 million in 2022 and will continue to increase.
