The Ministry of Economic Affairs said the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) joint agreement is expected to be signed by the end of this year. The Prime Minister will sign the agreement at the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Informal Meeting to clarify the focus, location and incentives for cooperation.

The Johor government has submitted a mid-term report and held a coordination meeting. On January 11, the Minister of Economic Affairs and the Minister of Trade of Singapore signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation aimed at setting up commercial service centers, adopting a QR code customs clearance system and promoting cooperation in renewable energy.

JS-SEZ will improve the business ecosystem, especially in the fields of electronics, finance and healthcare. Last year, Johor received RM70.6 billion in foreign investment, with Singapore accounting for 70%.
