AirAsia’s Cambodian subsidiary has started selling domestic flight tickets and plans to launch a route between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap on May 2, using two Airbus A320 aircraft for service.

This marks the group’s first expansion into new markets since the epidemic. AirAsia aims to become the first low-cost network airline and plans to find more opportunities in the Southeast Asian market.

The CEO of AirAsia Cambodia said that Cambodia’s air tourism industry is growing rapidly and the company’s vision is to change the way Cambodians travel.

The move helps shore up the positive outlook for AirAsia’s parent company, which has merged AirAsia and AirAsia X and expects to return its entire grounded fleet to profitability this year.
