Data from the Singapore Tourism Board shows that more than 327,000 Chinese tourists arrived in Singapore in February this year, equivalent to 96% of 2019. This number is expected to grow further in the coming months. In contrast, tourism in Thailand and Indonesia has only recovered to about 63% and 48% of pre-epidemic levels.

Singapore has eliminated visa requirements for Chinese tourists, focused on safety, and launched unique cultural and entertainment activities. The number and spending of tourists from China are increasing, with average spending per tourist increasing by 30% year-on-year. Behind this growth is cooperation between the government and concert organizers, attracting the interest of more young Chinese.

China and Singapore maintain good air links, and scheduled capacity between the two countries is expected to return to 101% of 2019 levels in the first quarter of this year. Amid geopolitical tensions, strong ties between the two countries are particularly important, making Singapore one of the most popular destinations for Chinese tourists.
