Chile keen to deepen trade ties with Malaysia

Natalia Arcos, international director of Chilean export promotion agency ProChile, said Malaysia and Chile can work together to promote relations in new areas such as renewable energy, tourism and education, while maintaining development in existing areas.

Cooperation projects include solar and wind energy, tourism package development, student exchanges and research programmes. She pointed out that halal certification is crucial for trade between the two countries and emphasized the importance of cooperation in technology and innovation.

Chile is seeking to diversify its exports, which are vital to its economy, accounting for 36% of GDP, involving more than 7,700 companies, 35% of which are small and medium-sized enterprises, and creating 1.1 million jobs.
