The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) has partnered with IBG Manufacturing Sdn Bhd to trial its new biofertilizer iM-bioGuard.

This fertilizer is infused with powerful bacteria to combat the fungal pathogen Bonin Ganoderma, one of the causes of basal stem rot (BSR). BSR is one of the most serious diseases in oil palm estates, causing economic losses of RM1.5 billion every year.

iM-bioGuard is the first liquid biofertilizer that helps oil palm absorb and reduce damage caused by Ganoderma lucidum disease. The move is seen as an important milestone in mitigating the impact of Ganoderma lucidum on the oil palm industry and promoting environmentally sustainable practices.
