U.S. ambassador says Malaysia’s market potential drives continued U.S. investment

Kagan, the U.S. ambassador to Malaysia, expressed confidence in continued investment by U.S. companies in the country, emphasizing its interest in the market potential and global trade networks.

He pointed out that American companies have created more than 300,000 jobs in Malaysia. Kagan emphasized Malaysia’s position in global trade and valued Malaysia’s participation in the Indo-Pacific economic framework. The framework covers 14 countries, accounting for approximately 40% of global GDP, and aims to address global economic issues and respond flexibly to challenges.

He also cited the significance of Malaysia’s long-term participation in setting international trade norms, as well as the United States’ stable economic ties to the country, with foreign direct investment exceeding RM150 billion since 2021 and the United States being Malaysia’s largest investor.
