EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB) announced a partnership with China’s Beijing Automobile Co., Ltd. to assemble and manufacture BAIC-licensed models in Malaysia.

EPMB’s wholly-owned subsidiary signed a 10-year agreement with BAIC Group to produce at least 5,000 vehicles per year, gradually increasing to 10,000 vehicles per year. BAIC will provide technical support and oversee the assembly process. This strategic collaboration replaces a memorandum of understanding signed last year to develop vehicle models for the right-hand drive market.

EPMB pointed out that this move will expand business scope, increase revenue sources, and enhance financial stability. The company plans to build a car manufacturing plant in Malacca, which is expected to create about 1,000 new jobs.
