Sarawak Prime Minister Abang Johari Tun Openg said the new Tanjung Ampang Port will be a deep-water terminal built on reclaimed land, following the successful models of Osaka Port in Japan and Shanghai Port in China.

He said this new way of building the port would prevent coastal dredging activities and would help the development of Kuching and Samarahan areas. The port is expected to connect the coast, Kota Samarahan and Jirong and accelerate the demand for green energy in Sarawak.

This large-scale infrastructure will be funded by Sarawak to improve supply chain efficiency related to green energy operations.
