Malaysian SMD Semiconductor cooperates with a British company to set up a chip design center in Sarawak.

The SMD CEO said Sarawak will play a greater role in promoting the semiconductor industry. SMD is a wholly government-owned company established to develop analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit designs.

Malaysia has attracted large investments such as Germany’s Infineon and the United States’ Intel, becoming a major production base in Asia.

SMD signed cooperation agreements with Riverbeck and Big Innovation Center to develop radio frequency integrated circuit technology and new semiconductor manufacturing methods to serve the global aerospace market.
