The Johor state government plans to introduce a multi-level automated rapid transit (ART) system in Johor Bahru to solve traffic congestion problems.

Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the proposal has been approved by the King and the Regent of Johor and will be submitted to the federal level for consideration. This move is in response to the increase in the number of passengers traveling to Singapore following the completion of the Rapid Transit System (RTS).

The Johor state government is also improving public transportation through initiatives such as the introduction of electric buses to achieve environmental protection goals. Handal Indah Group has invested RM80 million in purchasing electric buses and has been recognized as the first cross-border electric bus service provider in Malaysia.
