Proton sets up R&D center in Hangzhou Bay, China

Malaysian national carmaker Proton on Saturday opened a research and development center in China to strengthen cooperation with partner Zhejiang Geely Holding and enhance its facilities in the country. Located within the Geely Automobile Research Institute, the center aims to facilitate the realization of new concepts, including the integration of internal combustion engine and electric vehicle models, intelligent driving and project management.

The R&D center will upgrade local models, leverage Geely’s global resources to enhance competitiveness, and become a platform for interaction with suppliers to promote the development of the Automotive High-Tech Valley. The ceremony was co-hosted by Proton Chairman and Geely Automobile Group CEO.
