AirAsia plans to expand its route network in India, especially bilateral routes to second- and third-tier cities. The company is actively working with the Indian government to obtain more direct flight permissions and plans to expand its network to 20 cities in India.

At the same time, AirAsia also plans to launch new routes from Langkawi, Malaysia and Penang to India to meet passenger demand. AirAsia has served more than 5 million passengers between Malaysia and India in the past six years, with 18% of its revenue coming from this route.
