Nestlé Malaysia has commissioned a biomass power plant to reduce carbon emissions and fulfill environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments. The factory is located at the Chembong factory in Rembong, Negeri Sembilan and will start operations from the end of 2023.

Nestlé CEO Juan Alañols said this initiative is an important investment in environmental sustainability and will also have a positive impact on local communities. The factory uses empty palm fruit bunches (EFB) and palm kernel shells as renewable energy sources and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 14,000 tons per year and directly reduce pollution and landfill waste.

The Chembong factory is Nestlé’s largest Milo factory in the world. It produces multiple brands of products at the same time, all of which have obtained halal certification and supply local and global markets.
