Penang’s investment inflow reaches RM72 billion in 2023, setting national record

Penang attracted an investment inflow of RM71.9 billion in 2023, setting a record in Malaysia, with foreign direct investment (FDI) reaching RM61.7 billion, accounting for 85.8% of manufacturing investment.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said this demonstrated the effectiveness of the country’s transparent, investor-friendly and competitive policies and expressed investors’ confidence in the state’s potential and attractive opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Northern Corridor Economic Zone’s Science and Technology Innovation Center (NTIC) will become the main platform for technology investment and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
