Malaysia originally planned to transition to dual 5G networks after reaching 80% coverage in densely populated areas, but the policy was delayed without a specific timetable.

Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd (Kenanga IB) said the government is expected to announce the dual 5G network in the second quarter of this year and clarify each telecom company’s final stake in entity A or B. This marks Malaysia’s transformation from a telecommunications company and from a 5G single-network wholesale model to a dual-network integration.
