Sarawak partners with UK firm to boost semiconductor capabilities

Sarawak Governor Abang Johari Tun Openg said the strategic alliance with British partners in the development of compound semiconductors will drive innovation, enhance microchip capabilities and promote the application of new technologies.

He pointed out that compound semiconductors have advantages in fields such as telecommunications, energy and electronic products. The cooperation was signed by a memorandum of understanding between Sarawak SMD Semiconductor Sdn Bhd and Compound Semiconductor Catapult in the UK.

Abang Johari said that SMD Semiconductor aims to promote technological independence and innovation, realize the vision of Sarawak’s semiconductor industry, and become a leading solution provider. He believes this MoU will drive innovation and mutual success.
