In the first quarter of 2024, Chinese manufacturers surpassed Korean manufacturers in the AMOLED smartphone panel market for the first time, accounting for more than 50% of shipments.
Global AMOLED panel shipments were approximately 190 million pieces, a year-on-year increase of 44.6%. Although the market as a whole showed a strong start, it fell 18.8% month-on-month, which may be a post-holiday seasonal adjustment. South Korea’s market share dropped to 46.6%, and Samsung’s display market share dropped to 41%.
Chinese companies BOE, Visionox and CSOT showed amazing growth, with Visionox’s market share rising to 11.6%. Samsung and LG have advantages in the high-end TV OLED panel market, but are being squeezed in the small and medium-sized panel market.
