The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced the first cashless expo, attracting about 250 exhibitors from 14 regions in the Philippines. The event will be held at the World Trade Expo in Pasay City from November 17 to 19.

The expo marks the rise of digital payment transactions, accepting only digital bank, e-wallet or credit card payments. The event is a collaboration between the DTI, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Department of Agriculture, and major domestic institutions such as fintech companies Maya Bank and GCash to encourage more merchants and consumers to adopt digital payments.

Exhibitors will display a variety of locally made products, encourage digital transactions and provide convenience. Farmers will also participate in the expo to sell their agricultural products and promote the widespread use of digital payments.

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) promises to provide a strong and secure Internet connection to ensure the safety of transactions.
