The Ministry of Finance said the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has allocated RM97 billion, or 83% of its total fund, for domestic investment in 2023.

Since 2019, the EPF has allocated an average of more than 80% of its funds to domestic market investments every year. The total value of EPF’s investment assets currently stands at RM1.082 trillion, of which 61.4% is used for domestic investment and the remaining 38.6% is used for overseas investment.

Total domestic investment in the EPF has increased to RM665 billion as of June 2023, an increase of 9% from 2022. Total domestic investment is expected to increase to RM700 billion by the end of 2023.

The EPF is committed to prioritizing domestic investments, including money market funds that invest in local banks. They guide their investments through a Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) framework to achieve the investment objectives of their retirement fund management.
