Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has revised its vehicle sales target for the end of 2023 from 314,000 units to 325,000 units, driven by improvements in automotive supply chain components and strong vehicle demand. To support higher sales targets, the manufacturer also raised its vehicle production target to 338,000 units from 330,000 units.

Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said they hit a record high with monthly production of 35,111 vehicles and registered sales of 33,836 units. As of October 2023, Perodua’s sales were 267,063 vehicles, an increase of 20.2% from the same period in 2022, and production also increased by 22% to 280,452 vehicles from 229,811 vehicles in the same period last year.

Zainal said that although problems such as semiconductor chips still exist, they are confident that the fourth quarter performance will be the best in history. He also pointed out that if the momentum continues, the automotive industry may maintain growth in 2024, helping to boost consumer confidence. Perodua is currently focused on maximizing production and sales potential to accelerate the delivery of customers’ vehicles.
