Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG), the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, took delivery of its first Boeing 737-8 aircraft today, with a further 25 aircraft expected to be delivered by 2026.
MAG said in a statement today that the 737-8 is part of the group’s fleet modernization strategy to enhance customer experience, operational efficiency and meet the requirements of future network growth.
MAG said the 737-8 will be equipped with a state-of-the-art wireless in-flight entertainment system and offer passengers a variety of content. Additionally, seating configurations including 12 business class seats and 162 economy class seats will be available, similar to the newer B737-800 NG aircraft.
The new aircraft is scheduled to make its first commercial flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu on November 20.
