BYD, China’s best-selling automaker, launched its long-awaited Hiace 07 challenger to Tesla’s Model Y at the Guangzhou Auto Show, leading a series of new car launches.
Hiace 07 is BYD’s first medium-sized pure electric SUV. It is BYD’s response to Tesla’s best-selling Model Y. It is also one of BYD’s efforts to replace Tesla and become the world’s largest pure electric vehicle manufacturer.
One of the features of the Hiace is BYD’s in-house “DiSus” body control system, which is said to enable the car to adapt to almost any driving condition and scenario.
According to media reports, the price of Sea Lion 07 will be between 200,000 yuan and 260,000 yuan ($27,700 to $36,000), which is lower than the basic Model Y. The current price of Model Y in China is 266,400 yuan.
