Malaysia’s Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fazl, reiterated that Malaysia remains a top investment destination, especially when it comes to data centre investment. The government is committed to developing governance structures, public policies and regulatory frameworks, and plans to accelerate the development of regulatory frameworks during the ASEAN presidency in 2025.

Fahmy said Malaysia will build a strong ecosystem for the future and stressed the criticality of the digital economy. He called on businesses to partner with the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to drive investment and bring in talent. The move is in line with the country’s 2030 New Industrial Master Plan, which is the backbone of economic growth over the next decade.

MDEC CEO Mahathir Aziz said the agency is committed to driving the technology ecosystem to support innovation, foster growth and drive digital transformation, including the integration of 5G, blockchain and artificial intelligence.
