Johor will allocate RM1 million in the 2024 budget for the implementation of the Johor Pineapple Project (JPP), which is expected to strengthen the pineapple industry in the state and increase fruit production in the country.

The chairman of the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Council said that the state’s annual pineapple production is expected to increase to 334,000 metric tons through the mechanization of agricultural technology.

JPP is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Safety (KPKM), which allocates RM3 million to Johor. The funds will be used for six projects, including high-value pineapple crops, global market access, pineapple seed production, innovative industry development, technological transformation and industrial facility enhancement.

This investment is expected to cement Johor’s position as a major pineapple producer in Malaysia.
