Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Liew Chin Tong said the new Malaysia-Indonesia Border Trade Agreement (BTA) is expected to revitalize economic activities and trade between the two countries.

He noted that the agreement will promote socio-economic growth in the Borneo region and strengthen close ties between the two countries. This is the first update since 1970 and has been streamlined and improved.

Liu Zhendong emphasized that the BTA has been under review and negotiation since 2009 to ensure that it keeps pace with the times, is relevant and appropriate.
