Sen Plantation becomes the world’s first palm oil company to be validated with a net-zero target. The company has been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as a net-zero greenhouse gas target and is a pioneer in proven emissions reduction targets for forests, land and agriculture (FLAG) and emissions from energy and industrial sources.

Mori Plantation’s managing director Mohilmi said this would incentivise companies to achieve their net-zero targets with greater urgency through direct emission reductions, decarbonisation and neutralisation of residual emissions, while working to eliminate deforestation from their supply chains.

He noted that the company takes a holistic approach that includes renewable energy initiatives, land-use transitions and supplier partnerships that cover key elements such as climate, human rights and responsible sourcing.
