Total passenger traffic at Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) airport network in Malaysia and Turkey increased by 22.3% year-on-year to 9.6 million passengers in November, an increase from 7.86 million passengers in the same period last year.

Malaysian airports had 6.6 million passengers, and SGIA contributed 3 million. Despite being the low tourism season, Malaysian domestic airports recorded 3.4 million and 3.9 million international and domestic flight passengers respectively. MAHB attributed the growth to new services, including flights from Kuala Lumpur to the UAE.

Domestic airline seat capacity reached 66% of pre-epidemic levels, and the average domestic airline seat load factor remained above 80% for the second consecutive month in November.

Turkish business also showed double-digit growth, with SGIA’s total passenger traffic increasing by 12.4% year-on-year to 3 million passengers, and international and domestic passengers increasing by 10.7% and 14.3% respectively.
