The SME Bank plans to approve RM2.5 billion to provide financing to 1,000 SMEs

Aria Putera Ismail, President and CEO of SME Banking Group, revealed that a total of RM2.5 billion in financing is planned to be approved for more than 1,000 SMEs this year, with a focus on SMEs that are struggling to obtain financing from traditional banks. Key industries include technology, healthcare, construction, and services.

The bank also plans to promote entrepreneurial empowerment initiatives by expanding global markets, particularly the UK and Europe. The total growth targets approved this year are expected to be around RM3.5 billion to RM4 billion, with RM2.5 billion for SMEs and the remaining RM1.5 billion for business financing, including environmental, social and corporate governance development. In addition, the bank will provide grants to support SMEs in accessing international markets and cross-border initiatives.
