Boeing deepens its presence in Southeast Asia by acquiring a stake in Malaysian Aerospace Composites Berhad (ACM) and establishing its first wholly-owned manufacturing facility in Malaysia.

ACM supplies composite products and sub-assemblies, such as aileron skins, for use in Boeing commercial aircraft. The plant covers an area of 47,200 square meters and is located in Blackwood Hill, Kedah. Boeing’s relationship with Malaysia Airlines began in 1972 and has delivered more than 140 aircraft to date.

ACM is currently wholly owned by Boeing and has grown to around 1,000 employees thanks to support from the Malaysian government and universities. The amount of Boeing’s acquisition of ACM was not disclosed.
