The National Energy Company Limited (TNB) has entered into a “transformative partnership” with China’s state-owned power company to transform the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) through high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology.

TNB’s president said HVDC technology is essential in facilitating efficient power trading, resource sharing, and renewable energy integration. The strategic partnership aims to leverage the expertise and experience of China’s state-owned power companies in HVDC project development.

TNB underlines its commitment to sustainability and innovation, and as a supporter of APG, the company has signed five memoranda of understanding focusing on interconnection and renewable energy generation.

TNB also highlighted the trend of Malaysia becoming the focus of regional data centre investment.
