The U.S. International Trade Commission has confirmed that aluminum extrusion products from 14 countries, including Malaysia and China, have caused “significant harm” to the U.S. industrial sector, and the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue to investigate aluminum extrusion imports from these countries.

The products are said to be sold in the United States at low prices and are subsidized by governments in China, Indonesia, and Mexico. However, the commission did not specify which industry was threatened with substantial injury as a result of importing aluminium extrusions.

The Department of Commerce said it would continue its investigation and issue a preliminary determination on countervailing duties by the end of 2023 and a preliminary determination on antidumping duties in March 2024.
