Sabah aims to receive 2.8 million tourists by 2024 and is expected to generate revenue of RM5.6 billion.

State Tourism Minister Christina Liew said the target was planned to be achieved through the resumption of international iconic events such as the Mount Kinabalu Climbing Festival and the Sabah Festival.

In the first nine months of this year, 1.88 million tourists were welcomed, and tourism expenditure reached 3.95 billion ringgit, an increase of 58.2% year-on-year. This growth has been driven by the resumption of flight numbers, with 317 domestic flights and 98 direct international flights to Kota Kinabalu per week.

At the same time, Minister of Youth and Sports An Jin announced that the 10th Sabah Games will be held in Sabah from December 16 to 22, with a total of 22 events and 3,110 athletes and officials participating.
