The Malaysian Investment Mission has introduced two companies in Singapore with a total of RM2.8 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI).

Equinix plans to set up data centers in Johor and Kuala Lumpur to provide an interconnection platform to connect to the Asia Pacific network. Another global food manufacturing company plans to expand its operations in Malaysia and build advanced production lines. The RM2.8 billion FDI is seen as a recognition of Malaysia’s simplification of investment procedures and investment promotion.

The Ministry of Investment and Trade said it would adopt a more strategic strategy to attract increasing capital inflows from ASEAN. Malaysia is a viable investment destination due to its rule of law, regional location, workforce and global supply chain position.

From January to September 2023, Singapore approved RM20.4 billion in investment projects, making it the second largest source of FDI.
