Malaysian police will gradually wear body cameras from October 2024

The Home Ministry has purchased 7,648 body-worn cameras (BWCs) for the Royal Malaysian Police for traffic investigation and enforcement. The contract was awarded to Mindwave Consultancy Sdn Bhd for a period of 2 years.

The BWC will be supplied to the Royal Malaysian Police Mobile Patrol Vehicle Unit and Motorcycle Patrol Unit, located at 157 district police headquarters and 640 police stations across all task forces.

The director of JPJKK revealed that the law enforcement recorders will be used in phases starting in October 2024 and will be fully operational by March 2025. ​
